Two Northumberland mountain rescue teams were called out over the weekend to assist an injured person at Haydon Bridge.

The North of Tyne Mountain Rescue Team and Northumberland National Park Mountain Rescue Team were called out alongside the North East Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust on Saturday, May 22 to assist with the evacuation of an injured person down by the river on the eastern edge of Haydon Bridge.

Due to the location by the river, the North East Ambulance Service were unable to move the injured person – so local mountain rescue volunteers arrived on scene and assisted the community paramedic, getting the casualty onto a stretcher before carrying them up to the waiting ambulance.

In a Facebook Post, Northumberland National Park Mountain Rescue Team said that the casualty was in good spirits and wished them a full and swift recovery.
