A SCHOOL teacher in Hexham played a crucial role in helping his side to a Wembley winners' medal.
Graeme Armstrong, a PE teacher at Queen Elizabeth High School, was involved in Hebburn Town's winning goal as the Hornets defeated Northern League rivals Consett 3-2 in the final of last year's FA Vase on Monday afternoon.
The striker, playing at Wembley for the first time in his career, played in former Newcastle United first team squad member Michael Richardson who in turn laid the ball on to substitute Olly Martin to slot home a late decider and secure the trophy for Hebburn.
While Armstrong was not on the scoresheet at Wembley, he has been in fine goal scoring form for the side this term. He may return to Wembley for the second time in a matter of weeks as Hebburn are in the quarter-finals of this year's competition too.
