A local gardening group has announced new projects to make sure Hexham continues to look at its best throughout the year.

Hexham in Bloom, who work with local volunteer groups and businesses throughout the year, has announced plans to launch an online garden competition, with back gardens eligible for the first time since there is no need to visit people's property.

The group also said it would like to work with local schools to introduce children to the pleasure of gardening. As well as preparing Hexham for entry into Northumberland in Bloom this year, the group replanted the wooden tubs on the High Street which are usually done by local charity Gateway into the Community. This year, the charity was unable to do so due to lockdown.
