I would like to give a huge ‘thank you’ to Neil Hemmings, the Good Samaritan who has recently revamped the popular wooden seat on Yarridge Road at the top of Causey Hill.
I came to live in this wonderful town of Hexham a decade ago.
Over the years, I have explored all the footpaths and walks in and around Hexham.
I have enjoyed them all but the most strenuous and challenging walk was from my house behind the hospice bookshop, to Allendale Road and then up the arduous 534 foot climb to the top of Causey Hill Road.
On reaching the holiday park, the only thing that kept me going was the knowledge that there was that lovely seat at the top of the hill on Yarridge Road where I could take a breather, get out my flask of coffee and admire the wonderful views over the Tyne Valley to the hills beyond.
Thanks again to Neil for his ‘random act of kindness’.
