A CARAVAN club aims to run a nine-night stay for visitors to Tynedale.

Tynedale Park, the home to Tynedale Rugby Club in Corbridge, is a popular destination for caravanners on a yearly basis, but Covid-19 has prevented visitors heading north in the past year.

However, the Camping and Caravanning Club has applied to Northumberland County Council for a temporary holiday site licence for the rugby club between Thursday, May 27 and Saturday, June 5.

The maximum number of units which would be on the site each night would be 150.

This includes all tents and caravans, while mains electricity, bins and water would be available to all visitors to the site.

The application has been submitted by Steve Lissemore, a member of the club’s exempted camping department.

The Camping and Caravanning Club bills itself as the ‘friendly club’.

The county council has until May 7 to respond to the application.
