A MAN who had hundreds of indecent images of children, and some of animals, has escaped an immediate jail sentence.
Alan Johnson (67), of Blenkinsopp View, Haltwhistle, was given an eight month jail sentence, suspended for two years, after pleaaded guilty to the charges.
The court heard that Johnson, previously of Bardon Mill, had downloaded hundreds of indecent images of children between 2012 and 2019.
In addition to the suspended sentence, Johnson must sign the sex offenders register for 10 years.
