A Tynedale rock star will return to the North East to re-open The Cluny in Newcastle next month.

Spike Gray – the lead singer of The Quireboys – will bring his “An Audience with…Spike” show to the Newcastle venue on Thursday May 27.

Spike – who is originally from Haltwhistle – will both perform songs as well as tell a few of his many stories from down the years at the event, which is set to be performed with social distancing measures in place.

“This is a socially distanced show and er take it very seriously,” said Spike.

“This is a great opportunity to play to a limited number of fans in an almost parlour like atmosphere. “It is very much a show where the audience can get involved.

“Coming to Newcastle is like coming home for me and aI cannot wait.”

Spike and The Quireboys had several hits in the 1990s including 7 O’Clock, I Don’t Love You Anymore and Hey You.

They’ve also recorded several albums over the last 30 years, with their latest release 35 and Live having been released in 2019.
