A COUNTY councillor has announced he intends to stand for re-election.
Local elections for parish and county council seats are due to take place on May 6.
Coun. Gordon Stewart, who is also a Prudhoe Town Council member, has confirmed he will again be standing to represent the Prudhoe South ward.
He said: “I have decided to stand again after four fantastic years in office as a county councillor as I have brought more investment into the town than ever before, supporting schools, parks, business, tourism, jobs, community groups – in fact the whole of Prudhoe community.
"And there is even more that I have in the pipeline.
“I receive dozens of inquiries every week from residents, the majority of these have nothing to do with the council, but I support residents the best I can.
"I may not be able to resolve them as quickly as they would like or even sometimes at all, but I will certainly try.
“Prudhoe is a great place to live, work, visit and invest in with aspirations, ambition and opportunity for all.
"Let’s continue to build Prudhoe back better.”
Also taking place on May 6 are the police and crime commissioner elections and the Hexham planning referendum.
