READERS of the Hexham Courant online took to social media to share their views on a letter stating that more consultation was needed on Hexham’s future.

Residents will be asked to vote on the Hexham Neighbourhood Plan in the upcoming local elections on May 6.

DUNCAN SMITH SAID: “Will more consultation lead to agreement? I doubt it. There has been about five years of consultation. It would be nice is something was actually progressed.”

STUART FORD SAID: “Considering when the report was prepared (pre-covid), I would have thought it required a substantial review as the way we shop and spend our spare time has likely completely changed forever. The plan we are being asked to vote on is probably mostly invalid now. Needs proper consultation with the community, not just a “here are our ideas, what do you think? Ok we’ll ignore your thoughts and press on anyway with what we want” type of consolation that normally happens.”
