A NEW electricity substation for the town of Ponteland has been proposed.

Northern Powergrid (North East) has applied to Northumberland County Council for permission to install the substation at Harlow Hill.

The electricity distribution substation would be housed within a glass-reinforced plastic housing, with a stone finish.

The unit has the capacity of less than 29m cubed and therefore would be permitted under the Town and Country Planning Order 2015.

Lucinda Thompson, the electricity company's wayleave officer, has submitted the application on behalf of Northern Powergrid.

Consultees on the application have until Friday, April 16 (21 days from the application) to leave a comment on the proposal.

Further information about the plans can be viewed by visiting https://publicaccess.northumberland.gov.uk/online-applications.

The reference number to use is 21/01317/MISC.
