A NEW, modern two-storey home is planned for one of the most expensive places to live in the North-East.

A planning application has been submitted to Northumberland County Council to demolish an existing bungalow on Edge Hill, in Darras Hall, Ponteland, and build the new luxury house on its site.

The application, listed by Darras Hall-based Good 4 Property Ltd, would see both storeys constructed over 205sqm.

The ground floor would comprise a double garage, taking the number of car parking spaces from three to four.

The application stated: "The proposal is to demolish the existing bungalow and rebuild a new three bedroom family home.

"The increased size will allow for additional bedrooms and family rooms and will include a double garage.

"The property has been designed to meet the Darras Hall Committee guidelines."

The property would be would be constructed with stone walls and a slate roof.

There will be large glass windows used in the property, 'to add a modern feature to the front of the property'.

The access to the property would be moved to allow for better access to the garage with new gate posts and gates installed.

Daniel Armstrong Associates, which is based at The Corbridge Business Centre, in Tinklers Bank, is the agent working on behalf of the applicant.

Darras Hall is well-known as a hotspot for the rich and famous in the region, with many Newcastle United footballers choosing the area to set up home.

Homes in the area can attract price tags in the millions, and are much sought after by those that can afford to live there.

Properties on Edge Hill attract a price tag of £500,000 on average, with the most expensive house sold within the past three years going for £745,000.

Currently, a three-bedroom bungalow up for sale on the street is on the market for £495,000.
