A 46-YEAR-OLD man from Hexham has been left with life changing injuries after being assaulted in the town centre.
At Newcastle Crown Court on February 24, Ian Short (39), of Hallow Drive, Throckley, was sentenced to 22 months in prison, suspended for two years, for attacking the man on December 21, 2019 outside Mr Ants Bar on Priestpopple.
Short had initially denied a charge of assault but changed his plea to guilty at a hearing in December.
In addition to the suspended sentence, Short was ordered to pay the victim £3,000 in compensation and a victim surcharge of £149.
