Although currently we are all still involved in a national lockdown, talk has well and truly begun about when ‘normality’ is set to return.

With that in mind, below are five acts that are set to perform in at the Queen’s Hall in Hexham once restrictions ease over the next few months.

1) Jason Manford -  Like Me – Scheduled date: 3 September 2021

The Manchester comedian is one of the most well-known acts on the comedy circuit and has in recent years also turned his hand to acting alongside his stand-up commitments.

A regular on panel shows such as QI and 8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown, Jason has also starred in TV shows including BBC One series Scarborough.

He also took part in the 2020 series of the Masked Singer where he finished runner up after being dressed as the Hedgehog and he also recently appeared in the latest series of Death in Paradise alongside former Emmerdale actor Kelvin Fletcher.

2) Lee Mead – My Band and Me – Scheduled date: 21 October 2021

West End star and TV regular Lee Mead first appeared on our screens after winning the talent show Any Dream Will Do back in 2007 and heads to Hexham in October to perform his latest show.

After going onto star in further West End shows including Wicked and Legally Blonde: The Musical, Lee then joined the cast of hospital drama Casualty in 2014.

Three years later saw him then move to the show’s sister programme Holby City where he stayed until the end of 2019, all while still continuing his stage work and continuing to tour as a musician too.

3) Suggs - What A King Cnut - A Life In The Realm of Madness – Scheduled date: 27 January 2022

Likely to be most well known as the lead singer of band Madness, Suggs’ visit to Hexham next year will dive into some of the many stories he has to tell from the band’s performances over the years.

You might be surprised to learn that Suggs has also had a successful solo career too, with hits such as I’m Only Sleeping and Camden Town helping towards two further solo albums in the late 1990s.   

As well as discussing some of his most famous incidents when he visits Hexham, Suggs will also perform several songs alongside his pianist Deano on the night including various Madness classics for sure.

4) Mark Watson – How Can You Almost Win – Scheduled date: TBC

Hexham Courant: Mark Watson is a regular on the comedy circuit. Mark Watson is a regular on the comedy circuit.

Another comedian to appear on this list, Mark is one of the highest rated funny men currently around and is a regular at festivals such as the Edinburgh Fringe.

He also has often appeared on several game and panel shows including the highly acclaimed Taskmaster and rather surprisingly even competed on Celebrity Island with Bear Grylls back in 2017.

Mark has also recently turned his hand to novels and released his latest ‘Contacts’ title last year.   

 

5) Alistair McGowan – The Piano Show – Scheduled date: 31 March 2022

Well, after the surprising success of his debut record The Piano Album, Alistair will bring his two talents together in a live show in Hexham next year.

The 56-year-old is another regular on our TV screens and is perhaps most well known for The Big Impression that aired on the BBC in the early 2000s before regularly going on to appear on several panel shows over the next few years.
