A COUNTY councillor has issued a warning after ankle high, wire traps were discovered in popular woodland.
Coun. Gordon Stewart, who represents Prudhoe South, said such traps had been found in woodland beside Regents Drive and in woods beside Prudhoe Castle.
“These wooded areas are so popular with restrictions in place,” he said.
“There are residential, retail and business estates close by, dog walkers and runners often use these woods.
"The consequences could be serious.
“I have checked the wooded areas and informed the police, but ask people to be careful and report any further traps to the police via 101 or online.”
A Northumbria Police spokesman said on Monday they were unable to provide a comment.
However, Coun. Stewart said police had been in touch to search the area.
