A popular festival in the North East is set to return in September following a one-year hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The annual Tynedale beer and cider festival has been a regular attraction to residents around the region and in 2021 will take place between Friday September 3 and Sunday September 5.

The Corbrdige-based event has moved from its traditional May date following the government’s announcement on Monday regarding how the country plans to leave lockdown over the coming months.

Writing on Facebook in a statement, the organisers of the event said: “Hell YES, we are BACK!”

“Following the Government Covid-19 Statement on Monday, we are pleased to announce that our 2021 Tynedale Beer & Cider Festival will now be held over the first weekend in September.

“The dates will be Friday 3rd, Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th September.

“We will confirm timings as soon as possible and tickets will go on sale in the next few days.  We will have an update on that and for those of you who bought tickets to last year's event.”

Taking place annually at Tynedale’s rugby club since its creation in 2002, the event also plays host to a range of live music and has also helped raise over £450,000 for both local and national charities.
