Leader of Northumberland county council Glen Sanderson has vowed to build on the success of the 2019-20 climate change action plan after a new version was recent unveiled.
The council have reaffirmed their target of making Northumberland net-carbon zero by 2030, while also continuing their work around the region following the Covid-19 pandemic.
“2020 has been an exceptionally challenging year for the world and not least for us here in Northumberland,” said Coun. Sanderson.
“As a council, much of our attention and resource has been focused on the Covid-19 pandemic and its impact on our residents and businesses.
“Climate change, however, remains a significant long-term challenge for the planet and for Northumberland and its impacts on all our lives will continue long after the pandemic has been beaten.”
