A walker sustained a leg injury after walking on Hadrian’s Wall on Saturday afternoon.

After getting into difficulty near Steel Rig, a call was made to the North East Ambulance Service who then requested for the assistance of both the North of Tyne Mountain Rescue and Northumberland National Park Mountain Rescue Teams.

Luckily, an off-duty paramedic was also near to the scene of the injury and was able to help as part of the crew to help get the casualty to safety.

The injured individual was also aided by the Hazardous Area Response Team (HART), who first moved the walker via stretcher and then using their Polaris off-road vehicle.

The incident took a total of three hours to deal with and involved over 30 team members.
