Northumbria Police arrested six of the region’s most wanted suspects in just one day earlier this week after a planned campaign.

In just 15 hours on Wednesday, six individuals linked with crimes including assault, dangerous driving and burglary were all located and detained by the force across Northumberland and North Tyneside.

In a joint effort between intelligence officers and Northumbria Police’s dedicated Harm Reduction team, the officers were able to quickly locate each of the people wanted for the crimes.

“This operation was planned a number of weeks ago as we looked to locate and arrest a number of wanted suspects who have been linked with a series of crimes across Northern Area Command” said Chief Inspector Amanda Dumighan.

“A lot of hard work has gone on behind-the-scenes as we carried out intelligence into the suspects, and we are delighted to have brought six wanted people into custody.”

The list of detained suspects included a 31-year-old man who was charged with a total of seven offences, including two counts of dangerous driving and also possession of drugs after previously leading police on a chase.

“This may well have been a day of activity but I want fugitives in our region to know that we will never stop looking for you,” added Chief Inspector Dumighan.

“This was a team effort, and we want to deliver a clear message to the communities we serve that police are taking positive action and are committed to tackling all forms of criminality.”
