A local chef has launched monthly downloadable e-books with food for all the family.

Chef Clara Nicholl, who lives in Haydon Bridge with her husband and two children, has previously provided food for clients at weddings and other parties.

When all catering events were cancelled last year, Clara said it felt like the "perfect time to share my passion for cooking beyond friends and family and to a wider, in need audience."

"When restaurants closed, I repeatedly heard families saying they were stuck for ideas and hated the time-consuming meal planning when ordering their shopping online," she said.

"I started teaching friendship, family and community groups how to whip up delicious meals over Zoom.

"It felt incredibly special to enjoy endless laughter and bring sparkle to kitchen tables in the tiresome lockdown weekends."

This then led to corporate groups getting in touch, with Clara hosting 'Learn to Cook' events for employees who were working remotely.

She also held weekly Christmas parties for international groups such as Arla foods.

After the November lockdown was introduced, Clara launched her website, featuring a downloadable e-book with budget-friendly recipes, printable shopping lists and a weekly meal planner.

"I wanted to create bitesize, practical and low-cost solutions, inviting all ages to cook," Clara said.

The 'GRUB' e-books are available to download monthly, for under £5 each.

Clara said this month's edition encourages readers to buy local.

"Farming is all around us here and we are incredibly lucky to have local producers serving us amazing, fresh produce," she said.

"This edition is dedicated to them - butchers, farmers, bakeries, fishmongers, farm shops and greengrocers, who have really gone above and beyond to supply us with unbelievable food in lockdowns."

Also available on Clara's website is a free e-book edition with child-friendly recipes, as well as a blog section with more free recipes.

Clara has posted step-by-step children's cook-along videos on YouTube with her children, who are aged 11 and nine.

"The engagement with my children's cook-along really warmed my heart," she said.

"I love to see children enjoying the kitchen, understanding where their food comes from and how fun it is to produce good food."
