A 17-YEAR-OLD must pay compensation to a man he targeted in a racially aggravated incident.

The teenager from a remote hamlet in Tynedale, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded guilty at North Tyneside Magistrates' Court last Friday to using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour or disorderly behaviour causing the man harassment alarm or distress, and that the offence was racially motivated.

He was ordered to pay £75 towards the victim, in addition to court costs of £85.
