A MUCH-LOVED discount store which announced it was to go into 'hibernation' last weekend has now confirmed it will close for good.
Poundland Hexham, on Priestpopple, said on social media on Saturday that it was closing its doors that evening but would be back 'soon.'
However, a spokesman for the company has confirmed today (Thursday) that the branch will not reopen.
He said: "We're as disappointed as our colleagues and customers to be closing our store in Priestpopple, Hexham.
"The landlord has plans for the building which means it will be unsuitable for our use.
"Where we close a store, it goes without saying, we work hard to look after colleagues directly affected."
