A POPULAR independent travel agent has seen increased bookings for foreign holidays - and they are crediting Covid-19 jabs for boosting people's travel confidence.

Claire Milby, who co-owns Travel The Globe, which has offices in Barrow and Ulverston, is full of praise for all those who have made the vaccine roll-out possible.

“I think we all need to recognise the work which has gone on to get the vaccine roll-out to this stage," she said.

"Surgeries in Barrow and Ulverston have been doing amazingly well to get so many people vaccinated so quickly. It is making a real difference to everyone’s confidence.

“Obviously there is still a long way to go. And it’s important that people continue to comply with lockdown rules given the situation we are going through right now.

“But in the last few days we have seen that confidence starting to come back and people have been contacting us wanting to book a foreign holiday again, and that’s down to the vaccine.”

Customers this week have been booking a range of foreign holidays with Travel The Globe. Destinations and times of year which are proving popular include Croatia in June, Tenerife in October, New York in December, and cruises for 2022.

“A lot of people are saying they really want to have that holiday to look forward to,” she said.

“They know that if they book with a local independent travel agent they have that peace of mind that they can always speak to us easily whatever the circumstances, they are not having to wait on the phone for ages.

“They also know that if they do need to postpone their holiday that they only have to pick up the phone to us. We have had people book with us this week who said they have come to us because when they needed to cancel at the beginning of the pandemic it was so easy to deal with us.”
