BRINGING drugs into our community will not be tolerated.
This was the message the justice system and police sent out this week as 34 were brought to justice in a large sting, Operation Horizon.
The aim of the operation was to 'smash' a number of county lines rings which aimed to flood the streets of Barrow with drugs.
But justice prevailed and we see the outcome of court cases involving those arrested in raids.
Police officers launched more than 20 raids on properties in Barrow linked to suspects in early 2019.
And the convictions helped dismantled a sophisticated set-up of trafficking drugs to the county to be sold to local users in an area blighted by deaths linked to substance abuse.
The nine year custodial sentence imposed on PrinceWill Enaruba shows how seriously the authorities take on drug dealing.
The 26-year-old from Coventry pleaded guilty to conspiring to flood Barrow with class A drugs and has deservedly been punished for his actions.
Drugs can have devastating impacts on people's lives, and the tough stance shown by police and the Crown Prosecution Service is a peace of mind for people of the area.
All involved in bringing these people to justice deserve praise for their work, and let that be a message to all others who have similar ideas.
