A PLANNING application has been submitted to transform a former childminding space into a granny annexe.
Paul Elwell has applied to Northumberland County Council to change an upper floor, and part of the lower floor, space used for a childminding business at Kirkley Mill Farmhouse, near Ponteland, to a personal space for his elderly father.
Mr Elwell has lived at the property for nearly 20 years and has extensively refurbished and extended the grounds, particularly with the creation of a large garage space.
The childminding facility was started in 2016 but has since outgrown the building, leaving vacant space in the property.
Now Mr Elwell wants to transform the garage area to provide accommodation for his father at close quarters, creating one new flat in the process.
PC Fletcher Architect, based in Dinnington, is the agent acting on behalf of Mr Elwell.
