THE Met office has issued a yellow weather warning for the Tyne Valley and has not ruled out the possibility of flooding to homes and businesses
The yellow warning for rain comes as a major incident was declared in South Yorkshire, with Storm Christoph expected to cause major problems in that area.
In the Tyne Valley, heavy rain has been forecasted throughout Tuesday and Wednesday, with the Met Office warning of flooding and travel disruption.
The yellow warning stated: "Homes and businesses could be flooded, causing damage to some buildings. Fast flowing or deep floodwater is possible, causing a danger to life.
"Delays or cancellations to train and bus services are possible. Spray and flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures. Some communities may be cut off by flooded roads.
"Possible power cuts and loss of other services to some homes and businesses."
The yellow weather warning came into force at midnight, and will be in place until midnight on Tuesday.
