A MUCH-LOVED discount store has announced it is to go into ‘hibernation’ today (Saturday).
Poundland Hexham, on Priestpopple, said on social media: “Just to let all of our customers know that we are going into hibernation. We are closing on Saturday 16th January at 5pm.
“We will be back as soon as we can, stay safe.”
Earlier this month, the retailer announced it was to close 44 shops across the country temporarily due to lockdown. The Hexham branch, however, was not on the list.
Speculation on social media is mounting as to whether the shop will open again, with many saying they’d be sad to see it go.
Poundland has been contacted for comment.
