TRAINS were temporarily stopped in a Tyne Valley town today after a woman climbed on to the tracks.

At around 3pm on Thursday, Northumbria Police received a report of concern for welfare regarding a female who had climbed on to the train tracks at Prudhoe railway station.

A Northumbria Police spokeswoman has since confirmed the woman has been brought to safety.
