READERS of the Hexham Courant online took to social media to share their views on the first patients in Tynedale receiving the coronavirus vaccine last week.
Among the first in the district to receive the vaccine at Hexham Primary Care Centre was Archie Tait, from Barrasford. He received the jab from nurse Joanne Hall on Tuesday, December 29 – his 88th birthday.
Dr John Green, the clinical director of the West Northumberland Primary Care Network of GPs, described the vaccine as a “lifeline”, and said that sites had been chosen in Hexham and Ponteland.
SUE HART-JACKSON SAID: “That sounds great, bring it on! Well done to all involved, you are doing a brilliant job for us all.”
JUDITH BAXTER SAID: “My 90-year-old father-in-law gets his this afternoon.”
MATT CHARLTON SAID: “Great news.”
STEVEN BELL SAID: “According to the calculator app thing, it’s going to be June before I get one.” The Omni Calculator predicts when people will be invited for vaccination.
