ONE of the district’s libraries is celebrating its brand new facilities after opening in a new location.

Ponteland Library has relocated to the new Northumberland County Council-funded education and leisure development on Callerton Lane, which has seen a multi-million-pound sports centre and two new school facilities - a 1,600 pupil secondary school, a 420-pupil primary school and a 52-place nursery built on site.

The development will serve the town and wider area and has been planned to cater for the whole community including the elderly, school groups, families, sports clubs and social groups.

The library is offering a select and collect service on Tuesday and Friday each week from 10am to 4pm.

Books can be requested in three ways: By completing a select and collect form online, by reserving items using a library card and pin at my.library.co.uk or by telephone on 01670 622401.

Elsewhere in Tynedale, time-limited browsing and PC and printing access is permitted at libraries in Corbridge, Haltwhistle and Hexham, while a select and collect service is in place in Wylam. Bellingham and the Prudhoe facilities are open for time-limited browsing but not for PC access.

The popular rural mobile library service will provide a temporary service at Allendale on December 15.

All of the Northumberland Libraries collection will close on Christmas Eve until January 4.
