A NEW housing development on the site of the former Northumbria Police headquarters is nearing completion.

Ashberry Homes is building 69 houses at Bridgemoor, Jameson Manor, off North Road in Ponteland.

Construction work began on the site in 2019 and the final properties are due to be finished by early Summer 2021.

The development includes a range of two, three and four-bedroom houses, and there are now just two homes remaining for sale.

Oliver Wray, sales manager for Ashberry Homes Durham, said: “Bridgemoor at Jameson Manor has proved to be an extremely popular site, which is no surprise as Ponteland is a very-sought after area.

“As well as being surrounded by beautiful countryside and close to several well-regarded schools, the development is also well-connected. It’s just one mile from Ponteland town centre and eight miles from Newcastle.

“Demand has been particularly high since lockdown, with 17 homes being purchased in the last three months alone. We would, therefore, advise anyone thinking about buying a house at the development to get in touch with us as soon as possible.

“We are looking forward to completing the final homes in the coming months and welcoming more residents to what is already becoming a vibrant new community in Ponteland.”

Bridgemoor is part of the wider 275-home Jameson Manor development being delivered jointly by Ashberry Homes and Bellway.

The site was purchased for £21 million from Northumbria Police in 2018, having been vacant since 2016 when the force relocated nearby. The money from the sale is being invested back into local policing.
