RESIDENTS of a Tyne Valley town have rallied behind a mum's appeal to provide gifts and toys for families who are struggling financially this Christmas.

Angie Scott launched her toy appeal earlier this year, and has been inundated with donations from the people of Prudhoe.

This week, the gifts were distributed between Northumberland County Council's children's services, Hexham Kids Bank, Ferndene Hospital, and Red Brick Care Home.

Angie said: "It's went really well, we've supported lots of families. I don't know how many we had.

"People have been absolutely amazing, they've been really really supportive. I'd also like to say a big thank you to Brenda Grey for all her hell.

"I'm pleased that we got to help Ferndene and the elderly. Next year will be even bigger and better!"

Staff at Ferndene and Red Brick were grateful to Angie for her efforts.

Hexham Courant:

Lindsay Donoghue, manager at Red Brick, said: "I would like to thank Angie for all her work she does in the community and for Red Brick.

"I'm sure the residents will enjoy all the fantastic gifts from the Angie Scott Christmas Appeal, and thank you to all the people in Prudhoe for their donations."

Bridgett Lawson of Ferndene's activity team added: "It's great we've got some presents for the teenagers, because quite often they get forgotten about.

"It just helps everyone remember that we're a part of Prudhoe. A special thanks to Angie and all the people of Prudhoe."

Her colleague, Eddy Wilkinson, commented: "It makes us feel part of the community. I'd just like to say a big thank you on behalf of all the young people here. This will brighten up their Christmases.
