PUPILS at one of the district’s high schools have once again come together to help the less fortunate at Christmas.

For this year marks the third year that Prudhoe Community High School has supported the West Northumberland Foodbank.

Last Friday, the school held a Christmas jumper/colour’s day, where instead of bringing in money, students were encouraged to bring in food to be donated to families experiencing hardship over the festive period.

English teacher Yvonne Rushmere boosted the campaign by running a ‘guess the name of the beagle’ (knitted toy) competition and has been selling small, knitted bears. £150 was raised by her class and used to buy selection boxes to donate.

B&M Bargains gave the school 10 per cent off its purchase and a Hello Education donation took the number to 262.
