A GIFT shop with a presence in the Tyne Valley has been nominated for a prestigious award.

For The Love Of The North, which has a branch in Corbridge, has been nominated for the Community Brand Award in the inaugural Holly & Co Independent Awards 2020, created by the founder of Notonthehighstreet and UK ambassador for Creative Small Businesses Holly Tucker MBE.

As the only North-East business to feature in the nominations, the Community Brand Award is in recognition of a business built with community at the heart, going beyond a product or service; they’re a business that the community buys into, not just from.

The awards form part of Holly & Co’s Shop Independent campaign, celebrating the best small businesses across the UK with a shortlist of 118 nominees across six categories.

Any of the 118 nominees also has the chance to win the People’s Choice Award.

On the news, For The Love Of The North owners Paul and Lucy Hull commented: “We’re absolutely thrilled to have been nominated for The Community Brand Award in the inaugural Independent Awards 2020.

"We’re so grateful to everyone who has supported us in our journey so far. We are a proud independent business, and our community is very much at the heart of everything we do. This nomination recognises support not just for us, but shines a spotlight on the dozens of local creatives we work with and the wider community."
