THREE more deaths from coronavirus have been confirmed at Northumbria Healthcare hospitals.

NHS England figures showed that the death toll from the virus at the trust's hospitals is now 369, up from 366 yesterday. 15 patients have died in the last five days.

Northumberland County Council's figures revealed that 499 cases of COVID-19 were recorded across the county in the seven days up to December 1. The rate of infection over those days is 155.8 cases per 100,000 residents.

The Haltwhistle ward continues to have the highest number of confirmed cases in the last seven days.

According to Public Health England, there have now been 8,681 cases of COVID-19 confirmed in Northumberland since the start of the pandemic - an increase of 92 since yesterday.

It comes as the UK's official death toll topped 60,000. A further 414 deaths were confirmed yesterday, bringing the total number of people who have died within 28 days of a positive test to 60,113.

14,879 new cases were confirmed nationally yesterday, bringing the total number of cases confirmed to 1,674,134.
