A PUPIL from the district recent spent time supporting one of the country's largest tennis competitions.

Ponteland High School pupil Marcus Jeffery was chosen as a ball boy at the ATP Tennis Finals at the O2 Arena in London.

The Year 12 sports enthusiast is a competitive tennis player himself, and was chosen to act as ball boy at the event for the second year running.

The ATP is the second highest tier of annual men's tennis tournaments after the four Grand Slam tournaments.

A week-long event, the tournament is held annually each November at the O2 Arena in London, United Kingdom. In 2021 it will move to Turin, Italy.

Daniil Medvedev defeated Dominic Thiem to win the crown at the season-ending event played in front of no spectators due to the ongoing coronavirus restrictions.
