POLICE are investigating after thieves targeted a number of cars in a Tyne Valley village.

Officers received reports of cars that were broken into on two Wylam streets in the early hours of Monday morning.

A spokesman for Northumbria Police said: "“An investigation has been launched following a number of reports of theft in Wylam overnight.

“It was reported that an offender broke into two parked cars on Forster Gardens in the early hours of this Monday morning.

"It was also reported that a garage and a car on Dene Road were targeted with a number of items including a bicycle stolen.
