MORE than 720 people have tested positive for coronavirus in Northumberland in the past week.

Data from Public Health England shows infections had increased by 721 from 6,749 on November 12 to 7,470 on November 19.

Latest data from the authority on Friday, November 20 shows the number of infections has increased to 7,610.

A total of 316 deaths have been recorded in Northumbria healthcare trust hospitals, according to NHS England. The trust saw 24 new deaths confirmed between November 12 and November 19.

Northumberland County Council said the infection rate for the last seven days in the county was at 252.9 per 100,000 population.
