A FURTHER two deaths from coronavirus have been confirmed at Northumbria Healthcare hospitals in the past 24 hours.

The latest figures from NHS England confirmed that the death toll at the trust's hospitals now stands at 311, up from 309 yesterday. It means 16 people have now died in in the past seven days.

The most recent data from Public Health England showed that a further 131 cases were confirmed across Northumberland yesterday, bringing the total number of lab-confirmed cases in the county to 7,470.

Northumberland County Council's data showed that there have been 853 cases confirmed in the county in the last seven days - a rate of 266.3 per 100,000 residents.

Ponteland North ward saw the highest number of cases confirmed in the past seven days, with 15.

Prudhoe North saw 14 cases confirmed, while Ponteland South with Heddon had 13. Hexham East and Ponteland West both had 12 cases confirmed, while Hexham West, South Tynedale, and Bywell wards all had nine.

Hexham Central with Acomb had eight cases confirmed, while Stocksfield with Broomhaugh and Prudhoe South had seven.

Nationally, the death toll rose by 501 yesterday, bringing the total up to 53,775. As of Friday, November 6, 63,873 deaths mentioned COVID-19 as a cause on the death certificate.

Another 22,915 cases were confirmed across the UK yesterday, bringing the total number of lab-confirmed cases to 1,453,256.
