Hexham's only cinema may have been forced to close its doors again due to the national lockdown, but there is still plenty of work being done behind the scenes to ensure the show goes on.

It comes as Forum Cinema relaunches its ‘Sponsor a Seat’ campaign – asking film fanatics to become part of The Forum’s history by sponsoring their favourite seat in its art-deco auditorium. A personalised plaque will be attached to the seat for the next three years.

And while currently not able to provide its big screen experience, the Forum team are turning their attention to the small screen, to continue to engage with audiences, far and wide, during the lockdown, with new, virtual at-home screenings.

Over the weekend of November 27, local archive film Asunder will be available to view from home for a small price.

And the Forum team are looking forward to reopening once they are given the Government green light.

Cinema manager David Nixon who was appointed in June, said: “In the eight weeks we were open, we welcomed thousands of customers back for the Forum Cinema experience, and we received lots of positive feedback about our health and safety measures.

“It’s obviously a blow to have to close once again, but we’re remaining positive and looking forward to welcoming people back for a host of Christmas screenings.”

And with people already stocking up for Christmas, the cinema has got gift needs covered with its gift card and Friend of the Forum memberships.

To sponsor a seat, purchase an online screening of Asunder, or to find out more about supporting The Forum, visit www.forumhexham.com or via phone between 10.30am and 3.30pm on Mondays.
