A teenage sailing sensation has the wind in her sails after she was selected for the Regional Training Group by the Royal Yachting Association.
Ponteland High School Year 10 pupil Rebecca Green recognises her potential to progress within the British Sailing Team, with the aim of winning selection for the UK youth squads and beyond into the Olympic development programmes.
Chris Atherton, national performance manager at the British Youth Sailing Team, praised the teenager’s form.
He said: “Rebecca has been selected on the basis of her performance and commitment to a programme of training and competitions over a period of several years, and establishes her status as a sailor who we hope will represent Great Britain at major international events in the forthcoming years."
