HAVING announced plans recently to open a fast food restaurant in Hexham, McDonald’s confirmed it would move into Prudhoe in the soon to be opened Tyneview retail park.

The restaurant chain has divided opinion in the town, but readers of the Hexham Courant were largely favourable to the plans on social media.

People in the Tyne Valley have had to travel to either Blaydon, Consett, the Metrocentre or Carlisle to get a taste of the world famous fast food restaurant, the home of the Big Mac.

In the space of a few months, though, the district looks set to have two McDonald’s restaurants just miles apart.

A spokesperson for McDonald’s this week confirmed that the move to Prudhoe would happen, and that the restaurant chain wanted to add to its chain by heading to the new development at Hexham’s former Bunker site.
