IT may not have been able to go ahead since earlier this year, but local people have still been keen to celebrate the anniversary of a popular parkrun series.
In 2016, a group of sporty volunteers successfully managed to bring the global phenomenon to the Tyne Valley.
Since then, hundreds of runners of all ages and abilities have rocked up at Prudhoe’s Tyne Riverside Country Park on a Saturday morning to take part in the free 5km running event.
It has proved so popular with younger people that race organisers even started a junior parkrun for youths on Sunday mornings, which has also proved successful.
