A SET of young footballers are giving it the big licks after securing a new sponsorship deal with a local business.
Hexham FC’s new U12 girls’ team, Hexham Scorpions, enjoyed a special treat when the team’s new sponsor, Zoe Philipson from Tyne Valley Ices, made a special visit with her ice cream van to hand out ice creams to go with the girls’ brand new football strips.
The team formed at the beginning of the season and play in the Gateshead Development league on a Sunday.
The club’s Cheryl Hutchinson said: “The girls and the club would like to say a big thank you to Zoe for her continued support of our girls teams as she also sponsors our U16 girls squad. It’s fantastic to have this support from local businesses and the girls will do Zoe proud once the season resumes.”
The hand-over took place before national lockdown.
