MCDONALD'S is coming to the Tyne Valley after it agreed terms with the developer of a new retail park.

The fast food chain has been in discussions to take over a vacant unit at the new Tyneview retail park in Prudhoe for several months.

A McDonald's spokeswoman confirmed they were in discussions with developers Northumberland Estates over plans to open a new restaurant at the site back in March.

However, the deal has finally been rubber-stamped and the restaurant is set to open in the coming months, with the work at the site almost complete and the first store - B&M Bargains - set to open later this month.

County councillor Gordon Stewart, who represents Prudhoe South, said: "I have received numerous enquiries from residents who were keen to see this internationally well known brand coming to the town, bringing with it many more employment opportunities."
