A MAN has been handed a community order after pleading guilty to drink driving and possession of a lock knife.

South East Northumberland Magistrates' Court heard how James Anderson (33), of New Ridley Road, Stocksfield, was stopped by police on the A695 road near Mickley on June 13.

A breath test recorded 120 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35.

The court heard the knife was discovered by police in the footwell of his car.

He was ordered to carry out 80 hours of unpaid work and must pay a £95 victim surcharge and costs of £80.
