A VILLAGE has come together to plant around 3,000 snowdrops as a tribute to NHS workers.
The flowers were planted by community groups in Ovingham, including the parish council, WI, Allotment Association and children from the Badger Club and the first and middle schools.
The planting was organised by Elizabeth Frankland of the WI and Ovingham Parish Council chairman Doreen Jordon.
Of the 3,000 or so bulbs planted, 2,000 were funded by Northumbrian Water.
Doreen said: "The flowers have been planted around the village as a tribute to our NHS workers for their unbelievable support and care during the last seven months of Covid-19.
"These have been planted at the three entrances to the village, Pack Horse Green, Scout Hut area, entrance to Middle School and the bank-side of the village green.
"This will be a reminder to us all of the hard work, dedication and bravery of all the NHS workers."
