A TYNE VALLEY gift shop has scooped up a top accolade.

For The Love Of The North, which has a branch in Corbridge, has won the Best Newcomer for Midlands, North and Scotland in the Greats Gift Retailer Awards 2020.

The awards, now in their 18th year, were launched by Progressive Gifts and Home magazine to recognise and reward the UK’s best gift retailers, and this year, winners were announced via a live streamed event.

Founded on Valentine’s Day 2017, by husband and wife duo, Paul and Lucy Hull, For The Love Of The North was born out of their passion for all things northern and a desire to support the talented artists and creatives in the region.

“We’re absolutely thrilled to have won Best Newcomer in the Greats Gift Retailer Awards 2020”, said Paul, who was nominated as one of ten finalists in the Tourism Superstar awards, run by Visit Britain, in 2018.

“We’re so grateful to everyone who has supported us.”

Lucy added: “We are a proud, independent business, and this award recognises support, not just for For The Love Of The North, but for the over 60 North-East creatives that we are truly thankful to work with.”

Over the past three years, the business has expanded from a small, online gift shop, selling prints, cards and homeware, to having three outlets across the region, including its base in the iconic, grade-II listed Spanish City, in Whitley Bay.

For The Love Of The North and its popular gallery wall was brought to the Tyne Valley in 2019, after launching in Whitley Bay and a successful pop-store in Stack, Newcastle.
