MORE information has been provided about a scaled-down Remembrance Day service planned for Hexham.
Hexham Town Council hosts the annual parade and service, which is always an emotive occasion for residents as they remember the fallen from the two world wars, as well as more recent conflicts.
Unlike previous years, there will be no performance from a band, while military organisations will not be taking part.
Coun. Tom Gillanders addressed town councillors and members of the public at the organisation's meeting, which took place electronically on Monday.
He said: "We have asked Northumberland County Council for a road closure to enable those who turn out to socially distance.
"Because we will not have a band or organisations attending, we will be able to move members of the public closer to the war memorial, and they will be able to socially distance.
"It will be a slightly faster performance this year. Social distancing must be observed and face coverings must be worn."
The Mayor of Hexham, Coun. Bob Hull, said the current arrangements were subject to change in line with government regulations.
