THE CLOSURE of pubs during lockdown proved devastating for publicans and dedicated visitors, but one family ensured the pints kept flowing.

For Sarah and Kevin Dodd, lockdown was a time to realise their desire to build their own Northumberland-themed pub in their garden.

Unable to visit their own local in Humshaugh the couple decided to build ‘The Reivers Arms’ as a nod to local and family Border Reiver heritage.

Signed photos of famous Northumbrians and vintage postcards of the Tyne Valley sit alongside historic local maps and other pub knick-knacks.

“Having our own pub shed has enabled us to learn about the gowning trend for garden shed pubs, that due to Covid is sweeping not just the UK but all around the world,” Sarah said.
