A SUPERMARKET giant with branches throughout Cumbria has today announced a new delivery service for customers who are self-isolating because of covid-19.

Morrisons, with stores in Carlisle, Penrith, Workington, Kendal, Whitehaven and Barrow, has launched a doorstep delivery service.

With coronavirus cases again rising, the supermarket will operate the telephone ordering service from 10am-6pm.

Anna Lane, Morrisons local director, said: "This doorstep service will ensure that more people who can’t leave their home to go shopping will be able to get a delivery of affordable food.”

It says self isolating customers simply have to ring the service and choose the items for their delivery guided by the telesales operator. - it had previously only been available for elderly and clinically vulnerable people.

Anybody who is self-isolating can phone 0345 611 6111 and select option five.

The store says delivery will be made the following day from the local store.

Payments can be made on the doorstep via a mobile chip and pin device.

The delivery charge is £4.50, for students it's £2 - there is no delivery charge for elderly and vulnerable people.
